The Birmingham Public Library (BPL) is hosting five concerts to help patrons get in the holiday spirit.

The programs are among nearly 100 free holiday events and workshops being held at 18 locations across Birmingham between now and Christmas.

The concerts are as follows:

• Neighborhood Christmas Extravaganza, Thursday, Dec. 6, 6-8 p.m., Powderly Branch Library

  • Celebrate the holidays at our concert featuring Regi Yarbrough & Company.

• Holiday Gala at North Birmingham Library Featuring music by Fee-Fee Redmon, Monday, Dec. 10, 4-5:30 p.m.

  • Celebrate the holiday season with holiday music provided by Fee-Fee Redmon of Fee-Nomenal Music. Join the Youth Department for fun holiday games, a yummy edible craft, and a holiday make-and-take craft. Light refreshments will be served.

• West End Branch Library Annual Christmas Musical, Tuesday, Dec. 11, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

  • Enjoy a free concert featuring many of your favorite holiday classics. Refreshments will be served.

• The Phillips Academy Concert Band, Tuesday, Dec. 11, 1-2 p.m., Central Library East Grand Reading Room

  • Join the award-winning Phillips Academy concert band as they perform holiday musical classics.

• Baroque Sounds of the Season, Tuesday, Dec. 11, at 6 p.m., Arrington Auditorium, Central Library

  • Holiday music performed by "Birmingham Baroque." Members include Alice Mazanec, cello; Suzanne Beaudry, harpsichord; Bonnie Furuto, violin; and Ken Kirby, flute/recorder.
