Wednesday, May 2nd @ 2 p.m. -- Club Create: Come together to create something new! We'll tackle a new craft project each month, with instruction and materials provided. This month we’re sewing lavender heart sachets.

Wednesday, May 9th @ 2 p.m. -- Art Party: A different art project is offered each month with materials and instruction provided, and each participant can create a unique work of art. This month we’re creating sharpie & watercolor art to frame or send as handcrafted greeting cards.

Saturday, May 12th @ 9:30 a.m. -- Ukulele 101: If you’ve been dreaming about playing the ukulele, this is the class for you! This 45-minute introduction will be enough to get you strumming. Check out one of Avondale Library’s ukuleles or bring your own. This program is open to all ages – Call 226-4003 to register!.

Wednesday, May 16th @ 2 p.m. -- Books & Beads: Join us for our monthly jewelry-making adventure. Materials, tools, and instructions are provided, and each participant will complete a jewelry project to take home. Adults of all skill levels are welcome. This month we’re hosting a paper bead workshop. Learn how to recycle scrap paper into beautiful jewelry.

Saturday, May 19th @ 10 a.m. -- Local Author Workshops – "Setting the Scene” with Speaker Jim Baggett: Join BPL archivist Jim Baggett to learn about historic photos, maps, and documents available in the BPL Archives and Manuscripts Department that can help writers create rich, authentic, and accurate historical settings so that readers feel like they are living inside the pages of your book.

Monday, May 21st @ 6 p.m. – Avondale Library Book Club: Join us to discuss Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng. In Shaker Heights, a placid, progressive suburb of Cleveland, everything is meticulously planned – from the layout of the winding roads, to the colors of the houses, to the successful lives its residents will go on to lead. And no one embodies this spirit more than Elena Richardson, whose guiding principle is playing by the rules. Enter Mia Warren – an enigmatic artist and single mother – who arrives in this idyllic bubble with her teenage daughter Pearl, and rents a house from the Richardsons. Soon Mia and Pearl become more than just tenants: all four Richardson children are drawn to the alluring mother-daughter pair. But Mia carries with her a mysterious past, and a disregard for the rules that threatens to upend this carefully ordered community.

Wednesday, May 23rd @ 2 p.m. -- Fiber Arts on Fifth Avenue: Knitters, crocheters, and other "fiber artists" of all skill levels can bring their supplies to this informal group to share tips and ideas! The library will have a limited supply of needles and yarn available on a first come, first served basis.

Wednesday, May 30th @ 2 p.m. – Color Club: Take adult coloring to the next level with large-format premium coloring sheets with garden scenes designed by artist Claudia Nice. Colored pencils, pens and watercolor pencils provided.

Drop-in adult coloring stations are available anytime. We’ve also set up “Exercise Your Brain” stations in the Avondale Adult Department with free, fun puzzles to give your brain a workout. Drop by anytime — new puzzles are added weekly.
