Flicks Among the Flowers returns on July 18 with 'Jaws'
The movie will begin just after dusk, which is usually around 8 p.m. While the movie is free, a $5 donation is encouraged. No pets are allowed unless it can be verified that they are service animals. Low profile lawn chairs and blankets are encouraged. Beverages and movie snacks will be available for purchase from Kathy G.

Every week, we offer a new way to discover The Gardens for all ages but especially during Children's Summer Camps. Camps are filling up so sign up today!
Here are a couple that we think you may enjoy:
July 9-13 Garden Exploration Through Rock Painting [3rd-6th] Instructor: Donna Long, B.S. Elementary Education. Explore The Gardens through rock painting. This class will create rock games, cactus rock gardens, Japanese rocks and much more while exploring the grounds of our beautiful gardens.
July 23-27 Summer Garden Chefs: World Class Chefs Instructor: Jo Dale, MEd, NBCT, Gifted Specialist. Join us for five days full of exploring, planting, smelling, tasting, creating and cooking as we travel The Gardens and the world in five days to become World Class Chefs! We'll explore world cultures - from Asia, Europe, the Americas and Africa - through art projects, literature, games and food, creating inspired international dishes daily! Birmingham Botanical Gardens' World Class Chefs share your favorite recipes for our camp cookbook and take home culturally inspired art works, crafts and an international kitchen garden so you can travel the world all summer.

'Garden Insects: Friends or Foes? An Introduction to Entomology' is June 30
Whether we love them, fear them...or play with them, insects are an essential part of our environment.
Join Chattahoochee Nature Center Director Henning von Schmeling for a fascinating class which focuses on identification of, and information about, these beautiful and oft-misunderstood world of insects. Participants will learn why they deserve respect and how to attract them to your gardens. A classroom presentation will be followed by a trip out into The Gardens on a bug collecting brigade unlike anything you've experienced before!
The class takes place from 12:30-4:30 p.m. Henning recently talked to Kaul Wildflower Garden Curator John Manion about what to expect from our day of bug collecting. Learn more!

'Water Features of The Gardens' captures our fountains and streams on July 14
Birmingham Botanical Gardens is a target destination for photographers throughout the southeast and offers many beautiful and interesting sights for them to capture with their cameras. Some of the most stunning and impact laden images are those of The Gardens' many and varied water features. Fountains, pools and ponds, streams and waterfalls all offer the photographer - professional or amateur - the chance to capture images that have that "WOW" factor that we all strive for. It takes place on July 14 from 9-noon. Don't miss it!
