We have a new District 7 Councilor and a new Council President Pro Tempore

By a vote of 5-3, Wardine Alexander was appointed today to fill the District 7 City Council seat made vacant by the resignation of Jay Roberson. Councilor Alexander was immediately sworn in and joined the City Council meeting in progress.

Following the seating of Councilor Wardine Alexander, the Council then voted Councilor William Parker as the new Council President Pro Tempore. The vote was 7 in favor, 1 against, and 1 abstention by Councilor Scales.

The Birmingham City Council is now accepting applications from those interested in filling the upcoming Council Vacancies in Districts 1 and 6. The deadline for submissions is 5 p.m. on Friday, November 16th.
