We have a new District 7 Councilor and a New Council President Pro Tempore

By a vote of 5-3, Wardine Alexander was appointed today to fill the District 7 City Council seat made vacant by the resignation of Jay Roberson. Councilor Alexander was immediately sworn in and joined the City Council meeting in progress. Following the seating of Councilor Wardine Alexander, the Council then voted Councilor William Parker as the new Council President Pro Tempore. The vote was 7 in favor, 1 against, and 1 abstention by Councilor Scales.

For Freedoms Alabama art exhibit opening Oct. 28 at the Central Library

Birmingham, Ala. – The Birmingham Public Library is hosting a new art exhibit that is part of a non-partisan, nationwide campaign using art as a means to inspire civic participation by celebrating freedoms in advance of the 2018 midterm elections. The For Freedoms Alabama exhibit opens Sunday, Oct. 28, and will be open through Friday, Jan. 25, 2019.
