Planned Tree and Brush Cutting on AL 38 (US 280) WB and EB

From the I-459 Interchange in Birmingham to the AL 3 (US 31) Interchange, in Mountain Brook

BIRMINGHAM, MOUNTAIN BROOK – On Tuesday, July 31, weather permitting, beginning at 9 a.m., the Alabama Department of Transportation will continue tree and brush cutting on AL 38 (US 280) westbound and eastbound from the I-459 Interchange in Birmingham to the AL 3 (US 31) Interchange in Mountain Brook. 

This work will be on the outside (right) shoulder except for intermittent areas where the shoulder is too narrow.  In these areas, the outside (right) lane must be closed.

  • This work will last for up to four (4) weeks and the times will be as follows:
  • Monday thru Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the eastbound direction
  • Monday thru Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the westbound direction.
  • Saturdays from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Motorists are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area. ALDOT thanks motorists for their patience during this Maintenance Operation to improve Alabama’s roadways.
