Monday, Apr. 16th @ 6 p.m. – Avondale Book Group: Join us to discuss April: Under the Wide and Starry Sky by Nancy Horan. At the age of thirty-five, Fanny van de Grift Osbourne leaves her philandering husband in San Francisco and sets sail for Belgium to study art, with her three children and a nanny in tow. Not long after her arrival, however, tragedy strikes, and Fanny and her brood repair to a quiet artists' colony in France where she can recuperate. There she meets Robert Louis Stevenson, ten years her junior, who is instantly smitten with the earthy, independent and opinionated belle Americaine.
Wednesday, Apr. 18th @ 2 p.m. -- Books & Beads: Join us for our monthly jewelry-making adventure. Materials, tools, and instructions are provided, and each participant will complete a jewelry project to take home. Adults of all skill levels are welcome. This month we’re hosting a jewelry recycling workshop: Bring in damaged or unwanted items to break up and make into new jewelry.
Friday, Apr. 20th @ 11 a.m. – Gentle Yoga: Ms. Hardy will talk about and demonstrate the importance of exercise through mediation and how to develop a healthier attitude and lifestyle. Patrons are asked to wear suitable exercise attire and athletic shoes.
Wednesday, Apr. 25th @ 2 p.m. -- Fiber Arts on Fifth Avenue: Knitters, crocheters, and other "fiber artists" of all skill levels can bring their supplies to this informal group to share tips and ideas! The library will have a limited supply of needles and yarn available on a first come, first served basis.
Drop-in adult coloring stations are available anytime. We’ve also set up “Exercise Your Brain” stations in the Avondale Adult Department with free, fun puzzles to give your brain a workout. Drop by anytime — new puzzles are added weekly.
