Dear Birmingham Residents, City Employees and Valued Partners:
Since the start of the Woodfin Administration on Nov. 28, 2017, my team and I have dedicated ourselves to “Putting People First” across all of Birmingham’s 99 neighborhoods and 23 communities. The implementation of our mission – building community through servant leadership – is a central focal point and motivating factor for all members of the Mayor’s Office and City of Birmingham employees.
With the knowledge obtained from our residents, employees and strategic partners, I am honored to announce the City of Birmingham’s Strategic Plan. By analyzing the findings from the Woodfin Way Transition Team Report, Performance Assessment, Comprehensive Framework Plan, Burning Glass Workforce Study, and proposed 2019 Operating and Capital Budgets, we have formulated a detailed set of enterprise initiatives and major projects for the City of Birmingham. In order to effectively approach both the challenges and the opportunities across our city, we must prioritize the people of the Magic City. It is my hope that this plan will have a positive impact on Birmingham well beyond my first four years in office.
Clear, consistent communication is necessary for the successful implementation of the Strategic Plan. We want to provide transparency and accountability by ensuring members of the public have access to up-to-date information regarding our enterprise initiatives and major projects.
Our citizens deserve to know what is going on in our city and how they and their families will be affected.
My team has worked diligently over the past six months to serve all citizens with dignity, efficiency and effectiveness. In order to continue functioning with a sense of urgency and sincerity, we need a detailed plan in place to guide us as leaders and public servants. I am pleased to present the Strategic Plan for the City of Birmingham.
Sincerely,
Randall L. Woodfin
Mayor, City of Birmingham
