The City of Birmingham’s Holiday Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held on Sunday, Dec. 2.
Due to downtown construction, there’s a new route this year. The parade will start at 4 p.m. at Fifth Avenue South and 14th Street South and end on Short 20th Street North in front of City Hall. The tree lighting ceremony will follow in front of City Hall at 5:30 p.m. where Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin will join children and Santa in flipping the switch for the city’s Christmas tree.
High school marching bands from Birmingham City Schools will participate in the parade. Two choirs will sing during the tree lighting event, which will also feature food trucks and city partners.
