City of Birmingham to host supply drive for Hurricane Michael relief at Boutwell Auditorium this week

City of Birmingham to host supply drive for Hurricane Michael relief at Boutwell Auditorium this week 

BIRMINGHAM, AL – The City of Birmingham will host a supply drive to assist in the Hurricane Michael relief effort. The supply drive will take place Tuesday, Oct. 16 through Friday, Oct. 19 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day at Boutwell Auditorium, 1930 Reverend Abraham Woods, Jr. Blvd.

Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin and Councilor Darrell O’Quinn will host a Town Hall meeting at Boutwell on Tuesday, Oct. 16. Department heads will be on hand to answer questions at 5 p.m. The meeting will start at 6 p.m. The supply drive will be extended until 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 16. 

Items to be collected daily: 

  • Canned goods

  • Bottled water

  • Cleaning supplies (brooms, mops, gloves, cleaners, disinfectants, trash bags, etc.)

  • Tarps

  • Shovels

  • Garden rakes

  • Work gloves

  • Hammers

  • 5-gallon buckets

Neither clothing items nor shoes will be collected for the supply drive. Please do not bring them.

Volunteers will unload cars as motorists pull up to Boutwell Auditorium.
