Today’s Parks, Recreation, Cultural Arts and Tourism Committee meeting has been cancelled. That meeting was scheduled to take place at 12:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers.
Tomorrow’s Birmingham City Council meeting will be held virtually on Webex, a move that has been precipitated by an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases both locally and nationwide.
The meeting will be streamed live on the Birmingham City Council’s Facebook page and will start at the regularly scheduled time of 9:30 a.m. Public hearings will be rescheduled due to notice requirements.
“Throughout the course of this public health crisis we’ve been working on ways to continue carrying out the legislative business of the City, while doing so in a matter that prioritizes public safety,” President William Parker said. “With the number of cases continuing to trend upwards, we feel as though conducting our meeting virtually this week is in the best interest of everyone involved.”
