Learn more about City of Birmingham’s Boards and Agencies.

In the spirit of transparency, the City of Birmingham will hold informational orientation sessions for those serving on City of Birmingham-affiliated boards, agencies, authorities, and commissions. The orientations will also provide materials for those looking to gain information about the functions and roles of the city’s many boards and agencies. Our next session will be held on Thursday, July 18 at Birmingham City Hall’s City Council Chambers, third floor, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

To RSVP for the July 18 orientation, please go here. This is a free seminar.

Mayor Randall Woodfin believes it is vital for board members to understand their role with the organization they’ve been selected to serve, which is why he has joined the Birmingham City Council in making it a priority of his to reexamine and improve the roles of the various boards and agencies. It is also vital for the City of Birmingham to ensure pertinent information is readily available for our citizens.

The mayor wants to ensure that board members are equipped with the knowledge, training, and expertise to efficiently and effectively serve Birmingham residents.

Due to the chambers’ capacity, seating will be limited for this session on July 18. Once the limit has been reached for the first session, a registration wait list will open for future orientations. Please contact boardsandagencies@birminghamal.gov with any questions.
