Dolores Hydock to perform “A Christmas Memory” Dec. 2 at Linn-Henley Research Library

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.— The Christmas season doesn’t really begin until you have experienced Birmingham storyteller Dolores Hydock’s incredible one-woman performance of A Christmas Memory, Truman Capote's poignant reminiscence of his boyhood in rural Alabama. Join Hydock as she brings this annual Birmingham Public Library tradition to the Linn-Henley Research Library’s Arrington Auditorium on Sunday, Dec. 2, 3-4 p.m.

Five Points West Regional Library hosting Veterans Small Business Week Programs Nov. 7-9

The Five Points West Library is hosting a series of free workshops and events November 7-9 in celebration of 2018 Veterans Small Business Week. Bards and Brews Poetry Slam at Birmingham Public Library

Bards & Brews, the Birmingham Public Library's popular spoken-word poetry/craft beer program, is hosting its first poetry slam of 2018 at the Central Library downtown on Friday, Oct. 5, 6:30 to 9 p.m. A slam is a competition using elimination rounds for the performance of poetry, judged by a panel chosen from the audience.
