BIRMINGHAM, AL – The Green Springs Avenue Bridge will be closed to undergo needed repairs beginning Monday, Nov. 5. The route is tentatively set to reopen in March 2019.
Glen Iris Elementary Farmer's Market Starts Today
They will be selling at the school on the corner of 14th Ave S and 11th St S from 2:15-3:15. They have the last of their summer crops like cucumbers, green tomatoes, and jalapeños, and have lots of fall crops like collards, kale, lettuce, beets, and more! Everything is $3 or less and cash only. They will run every Wednesday (weather permitting) until November 14th.

The interviews of those who have applied to fill the District 7 City Council Vacancy are this week. The Interview dates are: Thursday, October 18th - Friday, October 19th - Saturday 20th. All interview sessions will be held in the City Council Chambers located on the 3rd Floor of City Hall. To ensure the process is transparent and fair, these sessions are open to the public.

By analyzing the findings from the Woodfin Way Transition Team Report, Performance Assessment, Comprehensive Framework Plan, Burning Glass Workforce Study, and proposed 2019 Operating and Capital Budgets, we have formulated a detailed set of enterprise initiatives and major projects for the City of Birmingham. In order to effectively approach both the challenges and the opportunities across our city, we must prioritize the people of the Magic City. It is my hope that this plan will have a positive impact on Birmingham well beyond my first four years in office.

New Operating Hours for Birmingham Municipal Court
On Monday, Oct. 1, Municipal Court installed new closing hours in an effort to put people first. What happens in Municipal Court? Municipal Court’s building is known as the David J. Vann Municipal Justice Center, which is located at 801 – 17th St. North. This is where people pay city citations such as parking and traffic violations. This is also where city judges hear municipal cases.
